Who It's Aimed At

Walking and mountaineering in Scotland will offer you the chance to visit some amazing wild places and take in the breathtaking scenery that has put the Highlands firmly on the map. We are based in Aviemore, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, which is home to five out of the six highest Munro’s and also places us perfectly for accessing other areas including Lochaber (home to Ben Nevis), Glencoe and Torridon.

Join us to tick off classics such as the Aonach Eagach, Curved Ridge, Castle Ridge, Forcan Ridge, Liathach and An Teallach to name a few!

Join us to explore these mountains for yourself. You can wander into the heart of some wild and beautiful places without the hassle of route finding, whilst having the confidence that we will choose the best destinations to meet your needs and expertise. If you’d like to have a go at some of the scrambling routes mentioned above we will happily guide you to the summits!

Improve your confidence and mountain skills so you can start exploring this wilderness independently. We’ll take you through all the necessary skills, such as navigation and mountain safety. If you’d simply like to brush up in any of these areas to feel more confident in the mountains, we offer a friendly, relaxed environment, that will encourage you to achieve but will be supportive all the way.

Do you enjoy being in the mountains but want to be confident in your navigation? Or are you guilty of letting someone else take over when the mist comes in? We can start afresh and build on what you already know to get you feeling good about your nav.

Our focus here is on navigation rather than climbing hills and bagging summits. Therefore we will bring it back to basics in the forest with orienteering style maps, before we progress to the hill environment. We believe that by breaking navigation down and starting at the beginning with contour recognition, basic compass work and re-location techniques, we can build your confidence and allow you plenty of time to practice, practice, practice! Putting all the building blocks together we will move onto micro-navigation strategies on the hill, again with lots of emphasis on your own practice. With guidance and support from us you will become more independent, having the confidence to take control of the map or simply take on your own adventures!

Immersing yourself in this wild landscape will have you wanting more and more…it may be the scenery, it may be the changeable weather, sunny one minute, then testing those navigation skills to find the summit cairn the next, or it may simply be the freedom of finding your way without a path to follow.
