Chalung is a 6,546 m peak in the remote Rupshu region of eastern Ladakh, one of the high, cold summits that ring the Changthang plateau near Tso Moriri. Seldom visited and demanding, it is a serious high-altitude expedition across nomad grazing grounds, moraine and glacier, rewarded with a summit view over an immense and empty high-desert landscape.
