Deo Tibba Base Camp
Meadows under the ice walls of Deo Tibba
The trek
A short, scenic trek through the Chhika and Seri meadows to a base camp beneath the ice walls of Deo Tibba and Indrasan.
Deo Tibba Base Camp is a small trek that punches far above its length. From the old village of Jagatsukh, just outside Manali, it climbs steadily through forest into a sequence of open meadows — Chhika and, higher still, the broad green amphitheatre of Seri — that sit directly beneath the linked ice peaks of Deo Tibba and Indrasan. Few easy treks put you so close to walls of glacier and rock this big.
Seri is the heart of the trek. A flat, stream-fed meadow ringed by moraine and ice, it is one of those rare Himalayan campsites that makes you want to simply stay. From here the mountains feel almost overhead, and the contrast between the soft grass underfoot and the brutal seracs above gives the place a real sense of scale and drama.
At six days and a top altitude of 14,400 ft, this is an ideal moderate trek — long enough to feel like a proper journey into the high country, short enough for a single week, and accessible enough for trekkers stepping up from their first easy route. It is also a beautiful objective in its own right for anyone who simply wants to camp under one of Himachal's most striking peaks.
