Spangnak Ri is a 6,390 m peak on the vast, arid Rupshu plateau of eastern Ladakh, near the high lakes of the Changthang. Remote and rarely climbed, it is a genuine high-altitude expedition on snow and moraine, approached across the nomad country around Tso Moriri, with a summit panorama over one of the emptiest and most beautiful landscapes in the Himalaya.
The climb demands strong acclimatisation, roped glacier travel and comfort in cold, thin air, and is best attempted in the short summer season. This is a placeholder listing seeded ahead of pricing — the route and dates will be finalised before it goes on sale.
