The trek
A serious twin-peak expedition to CB 13 (6,264 m) and CB 14 in the Chandra Bhaga range of Lahaul, approached from Batal near Chandratal.
CB 13 and CB 14 are twin peaks of the Chandra Bhaga range in Lahaul, standing at 6,264 m and 6,078 m above the Batal region near Chandratal. Set centrally in the valley with the huge Bara Shigri glacier across the way, they are among the most attractive climbing peaks of Himachal, combining a wild high-altitude approach with technical snow and ice climbing to one or both summits.
The expedition approaches from Batal, crossing notorious glacial streams and boulder fields to a base camp beneath the peaks, then a series of high camps for the climb. It is a serious objective for experienced mountaineers, with generous acclimatisation and reserve days built in. Best attempted in the summer climbing season.
