Deo Tibba Expedition
A technical 6,001 m summit above Manali
The trek
A serious mountaineering expedition to the summit of Deo Tibba (6,001 m), climbed on rope and crampons over the Duhangan Col above the Chhika and Seri meadows.
Deo Tibba is the great ice dome that presides over the Kullu valley, and climbing it is a genuine mountaineering undertaking rather than a trek. Unlike the Deo Tibba Base Camp walk, this expedition goes all the way to the 6,001 m summit — a committing climb over the Duhangan Col that demands rope work, crampons, ice-axe technique and real high-altitude experience.
The route builds patiently from Manali up through the Chhika and Seri meadows to a base camp at Tainta, then higher onto the Duhangan Col and a summit camp before the long summit day. Load ferries, acclimatisation days and weather buffers are built in, because on a peak like this the mountain sets the schedule. It is meant for experienced trekkers ready to take their first serious step into technical Himalayan climbing.
