A remote, high expedition to the 6,816 m summit of Reo Purgyil, the tallest peak in Himachal, on the Indo-Tibetan border above Kinnaur.
Reo Purgyil, at 6,816 m, is the highest peak in Himachal Pradesh, rising on the Indo-Tibetan border above the Sutlej valley in the far east of Kinnaur. Remote, high and cold, it is approached from the Spiti-Kinnaur border villages near Nako and climbed over long moraine and glacier to a summit that looks straight across into Tibet. It is a true high-altitude expedition for experienced, well-acclimatised climbers.
The climb involves steep snow slopes, glacier crossings and exposed sections, with a long approach and multiple high camps. The itinerary carries extensive acclimatisation and reserve days for the weather window at nearly 7,000 m. Best attempted in the summer climbing season of July to September.

Reach the high border village of Nako in Kinnaur at around 3,660 m after a long mountain drive, and settle in for the first acclimatisation night.
